Hesperidic (citrus)
Bergamot, lemon, mandarin, grapefruit, orange. Fresh, light, energetic. Ideal family for Paraguayan summer and office. Shorter longevity — between 3 and 6 hours on average.
Floral
Rose, jasmine, tuberose, lily, peony, lily-of-the-valley. The broadest family. White florals (jasmine, tuberose) are opulent; green florals (galbanum, leaves) are discreet.
Fougère
Lavender + coumarin + moss. Invented by Houbigant in 1882. The masculine backbone. Modernised with marine or fruity facets.
Chypre
Bergamot + jasmine + oakmoss + patchouli. Classic sophistication. Modern versions swap oakmoss for more stable synthetic molecules.
Oriental (amber)
Vanilla, amber, resins, spices. Warm, sensual, complex. Best for evening and winter. Contemporary versions are often labelled 'amber' by the industry.
Woody
Cedar, sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli, oud. Persistence and elegance. Modern when combined with citrus or spices, classic when standing alone.
Leather
Notes evoking tanned leather, tobacco, birch. A demanding family — communicates maturity and character. Not for beginners.
